Hosting and server logs
This site is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, on servers in Germany. Hetzner acts as a processor on my instructions under Art. 28 GDPR.
The web server records each request: date and time, the file requested, the HTTP method and status code, the number of bytes sent, referrer, browser and operating system, and your IP address. The IP address is anonymised by the web server before anything is written to the log — for IPv4 the last octet is replaced with a random value, for IPv6 the last 88 bits are removed. The logs are kept for seven days. They are needed to operate and secure the site (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
The hosting package also compiles aggregated visitor statistics (AWStats) from these anonymised logs. I do not use these reports.
Statistics
This site uses Plausible Analytics. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and collects no personal data; all measurement is aggregated and anonymous, processed on servers in the EU (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
If you write to me, I keep your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you (Art. 6 (1) (b), (f) GDPR).
Cookies
This site sets none, and does not track you across other sites.

The digital garden
The notes under /garden/ are published with Obsidian Publish, a service of Dynalist Inc. The page passes through my server, so the address stays on this domain — but your browser then loads the stylesheet and the script for it directly from publish-01.obsidian.md, and the notes are delivered over Cloudflare's network. Those servers therefore see your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for, and I have no control over what they record (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). See the Obsidian privacy policy.
Your rights
You may ask me for access to your data, its correction, erasure, restriction or portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 15–21 GDPR): mail@tilman.me. You may also complain to the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenaufsicht, Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach.
