Tilman Zitzmann
I research how creative practitioners can publish online, on ground they actually own, and what the open web might become as the old social media silos lose their hold. It is a subject design research discusses surprisingly little — largely because the discussion about the web is carried out on the web rather than in academic journals.
A second, older strand asks how design is taught today and how learning spaces, digital and analogue, can support that.
I worked in agencies from 1998, began teaching full-time in 2013, and came to research from there. The aim is not only to describe the shift towards self-hosted websites, but to contribute to it.
